My name is Mike Welch. I’m a Bay Area California native currently calling Southeast Asia home. I traded in a corporate America job and life for a life of adventure, teaching, traveling, volunteering and exploring…. I’m not looking back!
My trip began with a one-way ticket to Thailand and a contract to teach English. I took a leap out of the cubicle and embarked on something extremely foreign to me. Needless to say, knowing how it would all turn out was just not in the cards. I really had no idea what was in store once or what to expect upon arrival. I’m logging time on the road, and I can definitely say it’s been everything I could have imagined and much much more.
We are reminded daily that life is short, WAY to short. You’re only given one opportunity to play the game of Life; that means one shot to make it count. Advice I’ve always gotten from home is “You’re here for a good time, not a long time.”
I’m taking that advice and using my time to live every day to the fullest. Conventional thought would tell you to get a job; work for security and towards your retirement. Then, eventually get out, enjoy the fruits of your labor and travel the world.
Well, I’ve chosen to check conventional thought at the gate and EXPERIENCE IT NOW!
I created this website to not only chronicle my adventures but also as a way for people to find inspiration, hopefully some travel tips/advice, and of course great photos!
I love to travel, I love to eat and I love to PowerKicK! You may be asking yourself, “What’s a PowerKicK?” PowerKicK is a Lifestyle. It’s a way to grab life by the horns and put yourself in the driver seat. It’s a unique a way to express yourself and just say “Check me out” all in a photo.
